What is ADA?
ADA is short for the Americans with Disabilities Act, which became a federal law in 1990. It prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of life.
What does it mean to be ADA Complaint?
ADA compliance is not “all or nothing” – it is a process. Encourage organizations to publicize the “accessible features” they provide. Advance information for individuals with disabilities enables them to make informed choices on where and how to spend their money.
How do I know if we are ADA Compliant?
Disability Network Oakland & Macomb has certified ADA staff members who can help. We do complete reviews of your facility for compliance with the Americans with Disability Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG); a report, aligning the compliance guidelines for accessibility with the components of your facility and when required recommendations for increasing physical accessibility. Please contact Amy Maes at (586) 268-4160 x6604 for further information.
