After serving as the Director of Operations since April 2006 Kelly changed roles and stepped into Executive Director position in September 2015. Kelly graduated summa cum laude from Baker College with a Bachelor of Business and completed her Master’s Degree in Communication at Wayne State University with a specialty in Organizational Communication/Public Relations. Kelly enjoys being part of the DNOM team and working together to make a difference in the lives of the people DNOM serves.

Amy Maes joins the team of DNOM as the Planning & Strategy Analyst.  She has been a long time Disability Community Advocate serving many roles over her career. After leaving her position with the Superior Alliance for Independent Living (SAIL) in Marquette, MI, Amy joined the team at Disability Network Michigan as a Advocacy and Leadership Consultant before coming to DNOM.

Responsible for scheduling, program design, implementation and supervision of the Employment Services Programs. These programs include benefits planning, employment navigator and youth transition services programs. Program Manager will be liaison and coordinator for annual gala event and other fundraising opportunities.

Traci Comer has 17 years of experience in the human services field, specifically working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Traci has been working with Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) through the Assistive Technology Project since 2008, and had also worked for The Arc of Macomb County as an Adult Advocate.

After working for the automobile industry for 15 years, Janice decided to complete her college education. Janice graduated from Baker College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management. During that time, she also gained experience in the healthcare field, as a medical assistant and office coordinator, within a nursing facility/therapy department. She is now excited about her career change, by helping people in such a rewarding way.

Responsible for scheduling, program design, implementation and oversight of the Community Outreach and Advocacy programs.

Rozeta Rox joined the DNOM team in October 2013. Rozeta received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Michigan State University. She has been employed in the non-profit arena as a Case Manager for nearly two decades assisting the under served population. With extensive experience in the human service sector she has worked with the homeless population, adults with mental illness, veterans, individuals diagnosed with HIV/Aids, and children with disabilities. As an advocate for individualized services, she is a catalyst for working to create options, selecting the most appropriate plan, coordinating expertise and support of other professionals, family members, agencies and suppliers to bring about a positive outcome for the consumers’ goal of self-sufficiency and independence. She is enthusiastic in being a part of one of 15 federally designated Centers for Independent living in Michigan.

Jenell joined DNOM in July of 2010 with a background in human service. Jenell completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sign Language Studies with a minor in Psychology from Madonna University. Jenell completed her Master of Arts degree in Social Justice at Marygrove College. Jenell has worked as a Sign Language Educational Interpreter at Connections for Deaf Citizens for two years. She also worked as an Intake Specialist and Supports Coordinator for Neighborhood Service Organization for three years. At Neighborhood Service Organization, she assisted the developmentally disabled population with case management services (linking and coordinating) within Wayne County.

Mary was born in Detroit and has lived in Wayne, Macomb, and Lapeer counties through the years.

She advocated for students in the Almont Community Public Schools for 17 years in various capacities including working with students in kindergarten through junior high as an At-Risk Educator as well as developed and administered the Student Enrichment programs for the district.  She has done extensive volunteer work through organizations such as Kiwanis Club and PTA’s. Mary has also attended Macomb Community College studying business.

Lauren Baker joined the DNOM team as a Public Policy Specialist in October of 2012. Lauren graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2005. She taught kindergarten for two years at a private school in Plymouth, Michigan. For the past year Lauren has been the director of sales and marketing for Elder Living Construction, which is a company that specializes in home modifications to accommodate people with physical disabilities. She enjoys working in a field in which she is helping to improve the quality of life of others.

Mark was born paralyzed from the waist down due to having Spina Bifida. He started working at DNOM in January 1996 as the Transition Specialist. He helped students with disabilities make the transition to adult life. He also worked with and advocated for people with disabilities on an individual basis and facilitated presentations out in the community where he promoted DNOM’s programs and services. Mark obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (B.B.A.) in 1996.

This position is also the Resource Advocate for Macomb County.

Carolyn joined DNOM in June 2011. Carolyn has spent the last twenty years of her life and career in the health field; the last six years she served as an administrator in a Senior Home maintaining successful housing and care for consumers. On the job training and mentoring from a very special individual along with her education from Cambridge Business School, Madonna, and Davenport University has given her the opportunity to resourcefully fulfill her passion of helping others.

Miriam Green started at DNOM in September 2008 and provides information and referral to individuals and agencies who contact DNOM. Miriam was a case worker assistant for homeless women for over three years. She completed two associates from Oakland Community College obtaining a Liberal Arts degree and Applied Science majoring in Mental Health/Social Work degree. She currently attends Madonna University obtaining her Bachelor in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. She is very pleased to work for DNOM.

Clintonese has worked in the administrative field for 20+ years and was happy to receive an opportunity to work with the Disability Network Oakland & Macomb organization providing administrative support to a staff of 30 people. She worked for the Ann Arbor Public Schools for 11 years but has also worked in legal and county office capacities.

Clintonese was born and raised in a home with a disabled father who was stricken with polio at an early age. She likes working for a non-profit organization whose visions and goals encumber helping the disabled community achieve independence.

Melissa brings several years of experience working with older adults in mental health facilities to the Nursing Facility Transition (NFT, pronounced “Nifty”) Outreach Specialist position. She has helped many older adults weather the transitions in health status, social status, and other areas. At DNOM, she is responsible for providing outreach to the community on individual and organization basis. She meets with individuals who are looking to move from the nursing facility to the community. She also meets with human service professionals to identify individuals who are ready for NFT services and educate them on the types of housing-related services the NFT program provides the facility’s residents.

Richard Scarsella joined the Disability Network team in October of 2016.  He came to us with a diverse background, ranging from program management and group facilitation to administrative management and mediation.  He will be teaching classes at Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) and aiding in the development of our New Rec-It program.

Sian Washington joined DNOM in September 2013. She has over 10 years’ experience in the human service field working with people who have been homeless and at risk for homelessness or some form of prevention from becoming homeless. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in Health Science Administration with Community Development. Sian will return to school in the fall to complete her Master’s Degree at Eastern Michigan in the Public Administration program. Her human services skills were previously served at Passages Hospice as a Volunteer Coordinator and Robot Therapy for people with Alzheimer’s and related Dementia diseases. While employed at Community Home & Supports as a Case Manager and the Intake Referral Coordinator, she worked for the housing program for the homeless. Sian volunteered at the St. Jude’s Warrior event at Mt. Morris and has participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Designs and facilitates inclusive recreation programs for REC-it with DNOM programming. Works one-on-one with consumers and groups to provide overview and mentoring on skilled trades. Performs on-site community ADA assessments. Provides services to the daily operation of the building and maintenance.

After years of “helping” around the office, Rob officially joined the DNOM team in February of 2017. Having two teenagers of his own, Rob is looking forward to facilitating job readiness training with high school youth. He is also excited to share his skills and mentor youth in future skilled trades classes.
