Scott Shine – Assistant Director
Responsible for aspects of agency operations including: financial, grant management and human resources. Participates in the strategic planning process of the organization while providing oversight to the Independent Living programs and staff. Program design and implementation of aging, core and veteran services.
Scott Shine came on board in October 2016 in the newly created position of Assistant Director. Scott brings with him nearly a decade of experience in the disability rights and independent living movement. Upon graduating from Central Michigan University (FIRE UP CHIPS!) with a B.S. in Social Justice he began his career at the Blue Water Center for Independent Living in Port Huron, Michigan. Following his indoctrination to all things IL, his next stint was as Executive Director of The Arc of St. Clair County, an organization dedicated to advocating for and supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live life in the least restrictive environment possible. When asked why he chose to pursue a career in this field Scott replied, “I am not as grandiose to think I can change the entire world by myself. But if I can change one person’s world ever so often and that person does the same, eventually we can change a whole lot of worlds together.”
